No formal rank is awarded in these arts, but proficiency is included in assessment of rank in Kobudo (weaponry arts). These include Iaido (the art of drawing the sword from the scabbard), Kenjitsu (the art of using the sword in combat), and Kendo (the competitive art of Japanese sword fighting using a bamboo sword). In particular, I feel like this should help me 'telegraph' my moves less, as it will cut down on the need for an initial big step in with the right foot. The Shorin-ryu Karatedo and Kobudo Association of America (SKKAA) incorporates the Japanese sword arts at the black belt level. I was thinking the other day that it might make a lot more sense, therefore, for me to stand 'southpaw - leading with the right foot to have it closer to my uke's centre of balance, resulting in my left foot not having to travel so far. However, I have recently realised that this may actually be hindering my judo, in particular those techniques like uchi-mata and harai-goshi which require one to turn in and shoot the left foot in behind. For no particular substantial reason, I always go into judo fights either square or in a typical right-handed (which I am) sort of stance - right foot and right hand back, almost like a boxing stance (not that I'm a boxer, it just feels natural). Until a couple of days ago, I had never actually stopped to think about the importance of 'stance' in judo. if you cannot add subtitles to a video, but there's some important verbal component to it, consider posting a transcript or at least a partial transcript for our hearing imparied members. Adding a descriptive voice over is also helpful for our blind members if you create your own videos, consider adding subtitles for hearing impaired members please, or at least activate Youtube's auto-generation of subtitles as you post them. We have blind members here, whose hardware allows them to perceive texts, but not videos or pictures.

add a written description or summary to visual content you post, please.
